What are the implications for parents (in Ohio) who add a teenage son to their auto insurance policy?

I have a 16 year old step son who is anxious to learn how to drive. Before I put him behind the wheel and add him to our policy, I want to gather some facts on how doing so will affect our (my husband & my) clean records. Will his low gpa (grade point average) be a reflection on the policy as a whole? How will any violations he has impact our records and credit ratings? My husband and I are planning on building a house in a year or so and would like to know specifically what kind of risks we are assuming – insurance rating, credit rating and otherwise – so that we don’t jeopardize are own hard work because of his negligence! Thanks!

Why are my house insurance estimates so high?

We’re buying our first house & our mortgage guy estimated our costs for house insurance should be $400-500. We’ve gotten two estimates & they were $730 & $775. What could be driving up the costs that none of us expected?

The home was built in 1920, has wood siding, & is in city limits (near hydrants). The only other factors I can think that may raise the price are the fact that the fire station is on the other side of the rail road tracks, the fact the home is situated on a State Route/high traffic road, & close to a bar… Or is there somthing more?

Do I have to use the money from the insurance company to pay for damages to my house or can i just keep it?

Hurricane Ike recently came and destroyed my fence and damaged my roof. The insurance company sent a check to me and countrywide ( my mortgage company ) but now i am planning to sell my house as is or give it back to the mortgage company because i cant stand that high crime rate area anymore. Can i just keep the money that the insurance sent me to fix the house and fence? or do i have to give it back?

Is it true I have to pay for House insurance one year in advance?

My realtor said I had to pay for house insurance one yr in advance, which on the closing day I did. But when I get my mortgage payment stub, on the Escrow account it says part of the payment will go to house insurance, why is that? Am i paying twice for it?
