Does House Insurance cover an Air conditioning repair?

My House’s Air conditioner is busted. I brought in a guy to try and fixed it and he said that it was to damaged and that it might cost 2,000 to repair it.

It depends on WHY it’s broken.

Mechanical breakdown, wear and tear, isn’t covered under homeowners. You really just have to plan and budget for replacing the a/c and furnace every 15 years or so. It’s part of maintenance.

If, however, someone (who doens’t live in your house) whacked it with a baseball bat, that’s covered (vandalism). If it got fried due to a lightening hit, THAT’S covered, too.

If it simply broke down, due to age or ordinary wear and tear, definitely not.

If it was damaged by a specific external event, such as vandalism, being hit by a car, having a tree fall on it, being lifted off the ground by a tornado, etc., then maybe.

If a tree fell on it, it will. But, if it’s old then it won’t. $2,000 should get you a brand new unit though. Make sure you get other opinions.
