It all depends where you live.

There is no one answer for that, too many variables !!! Where you live, types of utilities, etc…can’t answer!!

I live in Dallas and my house is paid for, but Insurance, taxes, utilites, and general upkeep such as filters and minor repairs runs me around $1200 to $1500 a month

This is a very diffucult question to answer since you never stated where you are planing on living. Each part of the US has a different amount…extremely high and low low.
Some places are in the thousands for rent or mortgage (still depending on where you are looking). Some homes are electric only and then there are those only fuel oil which have to have their tanks filled a couple of times a year.
Some places dont have access to Broadband internet.
What you should do is find the place you wish to go and look it up on the web by googling the place name. Many of the towns/cities have a space on the web that gives you all types of information such as average weather (good to know if you need to heat or air condition more) price of homes.
You can also contact a realitor and ask these questions for the place you are looking to live.
Basically….the US is EXPENSIVE to live in.

    Tammy,

Where are you thinking of living in the US? Interest rates seem to be hovering around 6.25% – 6.5% for a 30-year fixed loan. Depending on where in the US you want to live, property values have a range. And, I would guess that utilities are also varying.

Let me know if I can help further.
