YSE – Bounce Back – Lost My Dog – LMD015 – Deep House
YSE aka Ant Plate is one half of Rhythm Plate along with Matt Rhythm, two friends who met at school through a mutual love of shoplifting and warm real ale. Hailing from the beautifully backward peak district town of Matlock, in Derbyshire, Ant and Matt began recording their efforts on a borrowed 8-track tape player down in the local bus station. Early attempts at pop stardom, however, were hampered by the duo’s crippling tourette’s syndrome. After conquering the bourgeoning village hall/pub scene in Matlock they set their sights on taking over the midlands through collaborations with Mantis (Derby), DiY and Winding Road (Nottingham) and Flat & Round (Manchester) – they find the transpeak bus service a particularly useful way of getting to gigs – and then eventually the world, by releasing material on labels “not from ’round ‘ere” such as San Diego’s Blue:m, San Francisco’s Roam and Portland’s Losofono (LSF). At present Plate sells deep house insurance. Should the need arise, however, he is willing to travel to DJing gigs with his much-sought-after collection of cassette singles at the ready. This is Ant’s second solo release for Lost My Dog and shows that he is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with on the deep house scene. Make no mistakes; ‘Bounce Back’ is a massive release for us here at Lost My Dog, and a case in point for UK deep house.
